They're graduating! This year EG&A is celebrating the largest graduating class in its history. Seventeen students from ten area high schools have successfully completed their secondary education. We are proud of their accomplishments and hope for continued success in the years to come.
The majority of EG&A students have decided on a post secondary option. We have students enrolled at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Matthew Devonish), SUNY Geneseo (Giang Nguyen), Prince George Community College (Lawrence Robinson), Bowie State (Chaqounna Price, Julius Johnson), University of Arizona (Brock Brown), Virginia Tech (Kimberly Tam), Montgomery County Community College (Dileydis Grullon), University of Maryland- Eastern Shore (Shaniqua Blake), Marshall University (Jeremy Chriss), St. John's University (Jazmyne Wade), and Long Island University (Brandon Whiting).
As the school year draws to a close, the students have felt a mixture of emotion. Brittany Harris, a senior of Eleanor Roosevelt High School, said she is "excited about moving on into the new world". Other sentiments of seniors include, "done", "excited", "relaxed", and "proud". Giang Nguyen from School without Walls states, "I feel accomplished and relaxed now that I finished my last year. Looking back, I can not believe that I had to fit all the things I had done into my schedule".
As for last minute preparation and summer plans, the students are signing up for fall classes, saving money, and getting excited for their next adventure. Brittany Okafor plans on traveling to Guatemala with Hoops Sagrado before volunteering with City Year in Philadelphia. Lawrence Robinson will be busy working several summer jobs before beginning classes at Prince George Community College in the fall.
